Dante’s Inspiration – Pazin Pit Kingdom of Festini

Pazin’s Pit is one of the most interesting parts of Pazin that originated as the result of special natural forces and the rocky Istrian terrain.

Dante Alighieri, one of the world’s greatest poets, in the first canticle of his Divine Comedy had written the verse dedicated to the Hell’s entrance “abandon hope all ye who enter here” allegedly drawing inspiration from the Pazin Pit during his visit to Istria. Recently, the pit has been opened to public and if you are in for some adrenaline rush, you can try the zip line that will take you on a short flight above the pit.
