Istrian town of artists – Grožnjan

Grožnjan-Grisignana, a small Istrian town of great cultural significance lives its summer months very intensely. Every year at the beginning of May, the little streets and squares of Grožnjan-Grisignana metamorphose and turn into a truly artistic beehive: it opens its summer music academies for young people, its artistic, dance and drama workshops and its peace activism workshops under the leadership of well-known experts and teachers and famous names from music, art and drama. Thick walls surrounding the town, large stone gates, and tall houses built right next to each other create a magical atmosphere. In July and August, the town hosts a jazz festival. There are also many other, smaller music festivals taking place in Groznjan during the warmer months so it´s no wonder that the town was proclaimed the “International Cultural Center of Young Musicians“. The number of galleries located in Groznjan is somewhere between 30 and 60 – from paintings, sculptures, vintage furniture to all kinds of handmade products including souvenir shops and clothes so there is truly something for everyone.
